Everyone interested in salmon fishing is anxiously waiting to hear if the summer "season" will continue in July or not.  A federal/state fishery meeting is taking place in Sacramento this week, and word is the CDFW's Marine Region Manager may be announcing later today the preliminary numbers of salmon landed this past week.  If more than 7,000 fish were landed, that will be it for the summer salmon season.  If that number was not attained, salmon fishing is scheduled to continue on July 5 and 6.  We have our fingered crossed, as there were definitely an incredible number of salmon landed this past weekend (the photo attached to this report was the Queen of Hearts' haul this past Sunday).  Regardless of what happens, recreational salmon season will, barring any unforeseen changes, definitely reopen for the "fall season" slated to open September 4, 5, 6 and 7.   As soon as we hear any update, we'll pass it on.
