Golden Gate Fishermens Assc.
We are excited to share some great news from the Bridge group and Coleman National fish hatchery net pens! Things are going extremely well with the fish population. Initially, the fish entered at 150 to the pound, and they have since grown to an impressive 110 fish to the pound. Their feeding behavior has been aggressive, and they are thriving in the environment.
In terms of health, a minimal mortality rate has been observed, with only 175 fish lost out of half a million. This is a great achievement and speaks to the strong condition of the fish.
Looking ahead, an in river release is being coordinated with the Bureau of Reclamation on April 16th to coincide with a pulse flow from Lake Shasta. Additionally, plans are underway for the release of fish into the bay, with efforts being made to ensure an evening release that aligns with the outgoing tide. Work is also being done on securing the perfect release spot to ensure the best possible outcome.
Stay tuned for further updates as we continue to witness these exciting developments!
