Yesterday we had some of the most interesting fish reports that our code boats had to offer in the past several months. Tommy Rothery described the fishing as"unbelievable... the best I have ever seen it in 35 years of long range fishing". Young Andy Cates described his scene as " Dude it was so gnarly...it was hectic..we were asses and elbows. Frank LoPreste summarized his day as "Nice" (which can be translated as wide open). These reports caused us a restless nights sleep.
We arrived this morning to beautiful weather and steady all day fishing. Everyone on board had the opportunity to not only pull, but land one or several of these big beautiful fish. When the once in a lifetime opportunity arises, people make the most of it by learning and trying different techniques. Greg Stoney and Dan Shubin led the hit parade with a 266 and a 260, as we ended the day with a total of 6 fish over the prestigious mark. The all day action also included numerous other fish in the 160-195 pound range either boated or released to fight another day.
